The photo project "I hear you" is the graduation work of Anna Krylova on the faculty of photojournalism of Yuri Galperin. During 2011 Anna observed the life of inmated of Audiologic center №1 and the center Saint Petersburg Ardis that are specialised in work with hearing-impaired children. The result is this project telling the story of those kids: the way they live, learn and play.
The most prevailing delusion of deaf people is that they hear nothing at all and can't speak. Actually, absolute deafness is very rare in nature. Taking the right and opportune help a deaf kid is able to become a full-fledged member of the society. This is hard work when a person learn how to hear and speak. During adaption, the support of parents, doctors and friends is necessary.
Saint Petersburg Ardis is the association of parents and children unable to hear, it exists already 20 years. It's one of not numerous places in the city where children are taught to normal life, not in sign language. In the Audiologic Center №1 children come for adaption after surgeries, doctors make diagnosis and observe the dynamic of hearing.
The main aim of these institutions is to help children with hearing malfunctions to speak and to hear.
