"Nordic Art Today" will make visitors and art community of Saint Petersburg familiar with the most actual examples of modern art of the Northern countries that use critical approach for interpretation of social issues.
From November 5 to December 11 in Loft Project ETAGI will be held the large-scale exhibition of modern art of the Northern countries under the name "Nordic Art Today: conceptual debts, broken dreams and new horizons" that is the first big event of the five-year project "Nordic Art Today", launched in 2010. In the exhibition that will fill all exhibit spaces of Loft Project ETAGI, participate 35 artists from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark and Russia.
The exhibition opens on the 4th of November at 6 p.m. in the Fifth Floor Space.
"Nordic Art Today" will make visitors and art community of Saint Petersburg familiar with the most actual examples of modern art of the Northern countries that use critical approach for interpretation of social issues. In their works young artists analyse modern society and offer scenarios of its further development. The international team of curators elaborated the conception and picked artists. The curators are Kari Brandzeg (Norway), Birta Gudjonsdottir (Iceland), Anna Bitkova (Russia), Power Ekroth (Sweden), Aura Seikkula (Finland) and Simon Sheikh (Denmark).
The entrance costs 100 rubles for visiting the part of the exhibition in the Fifth Floor Space. Other spaces are free to come.

The project is initiated by the Creative Union of Curators ТОК with the support of the Nordic culture fund, the Denmark Arts Council, the Finland Arts Council, Office for Contemporary Art Norway, FRAME, Loft Project ETAGI, the Counsulate of Sweden in Saint Petersburg and other organizations of funds.
