This exhibition is
a history of the
genesis of visual
images of
surrealism and its
further
development.
InArtis and Loft Project ETAGI with support of the Moscow State Museum "Burganov's House" present "The Сollective Unconscious: graphic surrealism from De Chirico to Magritte". On the exhibition will be shown author's drawing graphics by Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Roberto Matta, Hans Rudi Giger and others, as well as graphics and sculptures by Alexander Burganov, who uses a surreal aesthetic in his work.
This exhibition is a history of the genesis of visual images of surrealism and its further development. The core of the exhibition is a retrospective of Rene Magritte's graphics. During his life he created only 20 graphic works, and you will have an opportunity to see 11 of them.
Not only European artists have experienced the influence of surrealism. The most famous Chilean painter Roberto Matta was a surrealist, too. The exhibition provides his typical works from the "Argonauts" series. Also, you will see etchings "La maree 2" and "La maree 7" by American painter Dorothea Tanning. But the most striking embodiment the ideas of surrealism reached in works of Salvador Dali. On the exhibition will be presented a number of the latest works, the series "Memories of Surrealism" and "Les Diners de Gala".
